Tonight I decided to try something different and do the push ups before my run. On paper, Week 2 Day 3 looked quite challenging and I wanted to be able to give it my best shot. Besides it was hot and smoky outside and the longer I could stay inside the better.
Well, here’s what happened; the first 15 were ok, but I wished I’d warmed up a bit before attacking the workout. Didn’t I say that last week too? The second 15 much better and I only took 90 seconds rest instead of the allowed 2 minutes. The pair of 12’s were, dare I say it, easy and after a full 2 minutes rest I managed to knock out 30 consecutives. Maybe I could have squeezed out one or two more, but it seemed a bit pointless.
Now I have to complete and exhaustion test and I’ll probably do that Saturday morning so I can start Week 3 on Sunday afternoon. Looking ahead to the third week it looks like I’ll be following column 3 again.
So, 84 push ups completed tonight. Not a bad effort if I do say so myself…
Great work! You don’t have to say so yourself, I’ll say it for ya! Not a bad effort at all! I’m going to start my challenge as soon as the Dr. says I can.
Thanks Dag. Soon be your turn too….
Hey Steve, Week 2, Day 3 for me in about an hour or two. “Kind of” looking forward to it. I’m not sure I’ll do 30 in my last set but might psych myself up for 20. I’ll dutifully report in! 🙂
Good luck Bill! You may surprise yourself…
(By the way, you’re on my blog roll now…)

Hi Steve
Thanks for the blog roll love. I think I’ve got you on mine. Certainly bookmarked. I’ll check.
Just did Week 2, Day 3 and was left wanting: 15, 15, 12, 12, 17. Better than the minimum I know but I was on target for 20 and then the arms gave way on 18!
Still, I have just done 71 push ups! Not bad and probably impossible just a couple of weeks ago.
So Steve, I’m giving the program the BIG thumbs up. Thanks for taking the time to share the idea!
Excellent! Well done on the 71…it’s amazing what the body can do with a little stressing isn’t it?
Looking forward to the exhaustion test tomorrow and then Week 3 starts on Sunday!
