Well, Week 3 is officially over and after falling short on both workouts earlier in the week, it was great to finish on a high. Yes, that’s right; I managed to get through Day 3 and complete every push up!
Required: 30, 22, 22, 20, at least 27
Actual: 30, 22, 22, 20, 27
I think, as I’ve already mentioned a couple of times, the secret is doing the push ups before I go for a run. I felt much stronger tonight and it was only the last set of 27 that really gave me trouble. I got to 20 ok, slowed a lot and got to 25. I paused for about 10 seconds, arms quivering, before squeezing out the last two. I couldn’t have done another one if I wanted to…
I’m still going to repeat Week 3 next week, but feel much more confident about getting through this time. Hard to believe I’m officially half way through the program – time has gone fast.
For the record, here’s how the last 9 workouts have gone:
W1D1 – 46
W1D2 – 57
W1D3 – 69
W2D1 – 65
W2D2 – 72
W2D3 – 84
W3D1 – 91
W3D2 – 99
W3D3 – 121
Not a bad progression eh?
Hope everyone’s still enjoying the program. How are you all doing?
I just finished day 3 of week two. I’m on column two so it isn’t as many pushups as you, but man, it is still tough. week 3 isn’t looking too fun!
Ah, come on Pete, it’s all good fun!
Good luck in your exhaustion test. Make sure you warm up before doing it…

Sure! I’m thinking, video camera, and youtube.. so not only can you read about it, you can critique my form. 😉 Think I’m going back to running real soon..
Did Week 3 Day 2 Column 2 successfully! I think my form was a bit weak, but I’m happy. I’ll be repeating week 3 focusing on form.
I bet Steve has a really strong core, since he’s a runner and all. For my part, my lower back, shoulders, and wrists are all catching up to my chest and triceps. I’ve started doing crunches on non-pushup days using the same schedule as the pushups. I expect this will help my lower back catch up as my abs begin to take some of the work.
Hey Nick. Well done!
The following program is very effective for strengthening the core:

Great results, easy to follow, and a nice variety of exercsies. I’m doing this plan on the same days as my push ups at the moment and it’s working well.
Keep up the good work!
