I recently had the opportunity to try out the Creamy Chocolate Fudge flavor of Orgain — “The World’s First Organic, Ready-To-Drink Meal Replacement”. Let me start by stating I’m not typically a person who looks specifically for organic products (that would be my wife), but I’m not dead set against them either. Orgain, as stated above, is a ready-to-drink meal replacement available in a couple of flavors, both containing 255 nutrient dense calories with a perfect 2:1 ratio of complex carbs to protein ratioo.
I do on occasion find myself looking for a meal replacement solution, but none of the common brands have ever measured up in terms of taste or ingredients. I either skip the ready made products or make my own smoothies with frozen fruit, yogurt and protein powder. After studying the info on the Orgain web site (which describes the product as “absolutely delicious”), I decided to give it a try. I must say Creamy Chocolate Fudge flavor is probably the best I’ve experienced — no nasty aftertaste, great consistency and a low sugar content.
It’s also amazing what Orgain packs into a single 11 ounce serving. Feel free to check the Orgain Nutrition Facts for a complete listing, but for now here’s a quick product breakdown:
– USDA Certified Organic
– 16 grams of Organic Whey Protein
– Organic Complex Carbohydrates from Brown Rice
– Omega 3 Fatty Acids from DHA
– Organic blueberries, bananas, acai berry, apple and raspberry
– Organic kale, beets, spinach, carrots, tomatoes
– Organic Pomegranate and Green Tea Extracts
– 24 Vitamins and Minerals
– Antioxidant equivalent to 10 servings of fruits and veggies per serving
– Lightly sweetened with Organic Brown Rice Syrup and Organic Evaporated Cane Juice
– Doctor Developed
– Delicious Taste
– No caffeine, preservatives, gluten, corn syrup, saturated fat, hormones or antibiotics
Orgain’s founder, Dr Andrew Abraham, had one goal in mind when he started out with the product: “To create the healthiest drink in the world” and it’s definitely refreshing from a consumer’s perspective that Orgain does not contain corn syrup, poor quality ingredients and masses of sugar.
As an added bonus for the environment, Orgain is packaged in an eco-friendly container that is recyclable. The product is also unique in that it is completely shelf stable for over one year without the use of any preservatives!
At $42.00 for a case of 12 tetra-paks, Orgain isn’t the cheapest meal-replacement product available, but it must be one of the healthiest and is definitely one of the tastiest! At the moment you can only buy online (use code adroll to receive FREE shipping) but it looks like there are a list of retailers “coming soon” to their web site.
