How about this for an epic endurance run for charity? Local runner, Tommy Neeson, husband to Elaine, father to Shelby and parent of a child lost to cancer (Randi), has a passion for running and a passion for helping others in need. In less than 7 days time, Tommy will set off on a 2300 mile adventure from Bangor, Maine to Miami, Florida, stopping off at different Ronald McDonald Houses to
visit and support families affected by cancer.
You may remember last year, Tommy raised thousands of dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk, VA with a world record setting 50k treadmill run. I guess just over 31 miles wasn’t enough for him?
You can check Tommy’s official route here, and if you’d like to run with Tommy, you can sign up here. On a personal note, I’ve committed to run the 33rd stage from Newport News, VA to Norfolk, VA, which just so happens to be 33 miles long; the longest single run of my life.
If you’re unable to run with Tommy, please consider making a donation. There are several options listed here.
Tommy, I wish you the very best of British! No doubt I’ll talk to you soon, but if not I guess I’ll see you in Newport News…..
Bloggers, please help spread the word if you can. Either write a short post of your own, stumble this post or submit it to any of the numerous social web sites. Thanks!
Wow, that’s an amazing distance to go!
I want to do this so bad, but my wife is due right around then. Not smart of me.
I think I just saw this guy running on the post road in Orange(Milford) CT this morning! He was pushing a baby stroller with a sign on it! What an amazing cause. Keep it up!
Haven’t had an update from Tommy for a few days, so it’s good to know he’s still out and about….
Thanks John,
