McMillan Custom Marathon Plan: Week 2 Day 1

Week 2, Day 1
Phase: Base

Workout: 35 to 50 minute Easy Run
Purpose: Build Endurance

On paper this looked like the easiest run of the plan so far, but it turned out to be a bit of a slog. My legs felt heavy, my breathing labored and I was happy to get home and put this one behind me.

Aside from the 90°F temperature I think I was probably still fatigued from yesterday’s long run. Maybe it’s going to take me a while to recover from the longer stuff for a while until my body gets used to running the Sunday long runs again. We’ll see. So much for a nice easy recovery run though…

    I just caught up on reading your blog, and saw yesterday’s post… sounds like you were discouraged. It looks like you’ve been working really hard, and I’m sure you’re getting stronger! Heavy legs and labored breathing are no fun, but you did it anyway and it will pay off. You’re a great role model, keep on running!
