Anheuser-Busch Colonial Half Marathon

Colonial Half MarathonAs if 8 races in 8 weeks wasn’t enough, I’ve gone and signed up for another half marathon on February 24th – one day after the 3rd race in the Mud In Your Eye series. The race in question is the Anheuser-Busch Colonial Half Marathon, a scenic, hilly 13.1 mile race which takes place in and around historic Williamsburg in Virginia.

The half marathon is limited to 1300 runners, starts on the College of William and Mary campus, winds through residential Williamsburg, then out onto the Carter’s Grove Country Road, with a two and a half mile loop in Kingsmill and the Busch Corporate Center, then back on the Carter’s Grove Country Road to campus and finish inside William and Mary Hall.

This is one event I’ve always wanted to take part in, but never signed up for. This year, with my daughter enjoying her Freshman year at William & Mary, I decided to throw caution to the wind and run the race. What’s another half marathon amongst friends eh?

I certainly won’t be expecting a fast time in the race, which comes one day after a tough 8k cross country race and takes place on a challenging, hilly course. It should be a great experience though – a pleasant change of scenery, different roads to run on and a group of runners I rarely get to run against. Also, with prize money of $2,000 to the top three men and women, I’m sure the race will draw plenty of elite athletes. Definitely something to look forward to….

  1. Hey Steve! I’m doing that one too! I had my eye on that one but I had my doubts of doing it a day after the 8K but after yesterdays 20 after the 6K, it looks very possible.

  2. Well…there is the Falcon 5K but I’ll probably pass on that one…but who knows, I may change my mind.

It must be like an addiction…but it’s a healthy addition…Right?
