Bit of a last minute decision to run the 5k on Saturday morning, but it turned out to be a good race. Despite a tough training week I was pleasantly surprised to run fairly even splits and hold on for a sixth place overall finish.
Finish time: 17:48
Splits: 5:44 5:42 5:50
Pace: 5:45 per mile
Overall: 6th
Age-group: 1st
The weather was pretty good, although the humidity was quite high and we experienced a slight headwind in the second half of the race as we headed south on the boardwalk. Not a bad effort though and a nice first result as a 42 year old.
Next week is the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon which I’m really excited about. With a couple of days to taper before the race, I’m curious to see what I can run at the biggest local race of the year.
Excellent 5k! Good luck with the last lead up to the marathon!
Thanks Tim. Happy with the race, especially as I was still a bit sore from 2 tough workouts earlier in the week.
12 weeks to go until Richmond….

Another race another win eh!
