Well, what a fine 47 days it has been — personal bests in the mile, 5k, twice in the 8k and now the 1/2 marathon too. Ran another solid race today, finished strong and managed to shave 14 seconds of my previous best half marathon time set at the Dismal Swamp Stomp 1/2 a couple of years ago.
Sunday’s run, in near perfect conditions for this time of year, was also three minutes quicker than my fastest Rock ‘n’ Roll 1/2 Marathon, and the first time I’ve placed in my age group in 8 attempts.
Not sure this crazy streak will continue much longer, but I’m hopeful of a good showing at the Marine Corps Marathon in just under 8 weeks time. Still plenty of work to do, but things are looking good!
[Thanks to Kim Smith for the photo, taken at Mile 11.4, which incidentally was the second fastest mile of my race.]
Awesome job Steve. I’ve enjoyed watching what you’ve done this year. I hope all this translates into your best marathon ever next month!
Great job, Steve! You are on fire this year!
Can’t wait to actually race you in a marathon one of these years.
