Just a quick post to upload my race stats from today’s Turkey Trot 10k race. It was unseasonably warm – over 70°F – and quite windy – up to 20 mph – and my legs are still recovering from too many tough races in the past month. Despite all of the above, it’s always a great way to start the Holiday and a chance to wish all my running friends a Happy Thanksgiving.
I started off fairly fast with a 5:53 opening mile, quickened to a 5:51 in the second mile but then slowed considerably for the remainder of the race – 6:07, 6:19, 6:28 and 6:20. My overall finish position was 19th out of about 1700 runners (huge field for a busy holiday) and 3rd in my 40-44 age group. Official finish time – 38:22 (6:10 pace).
All in all a successful outcome considering my oh-so-tired post marathon legs. I must admit I’ve been a bit lazy this past week and have enjoyed a bit of rest after several demanding races, but I need to get back on track and get into a regular training routine.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and enjoy the Holidays!!
Nice race Steve!
Great job on your 3rd place and getting a Turkey trophy! That was some strong competition out there but it was fun.
Hope you and your family are enjoying your Thanksgiving holidays,
Charlie
