Cayman Marathon Countdown – Day 2

Decided to leave off the heart rate monitor today and just run. 5 or 6 miles was the goal and after just over 40 minutes of running, I ended up with 3 easy miles and 3 fairly decent miles – 6:29, 6:19, 5:59 – alternating slow/fast/slow/fast etc.

Temps were pretty standard for this time of year (mid-80s), with a pleasant breeze and a nice bit of cloud cover. Humidity still crazy high though. Followed up the run with some light stretching and a few minutes of backwards walking on the gym treadmill.

Still undecided on the race day shoes – it’s a toss-up between the Topo Athletic Fli-Lyte 2 and their lighter ST-2. The ST-2 felt good today but I’m a bit concerned it won’t be “enough shoe” for 26.2 miles. Thankfully I still have just over a week to decide.
