Last Six Miler Before Frederick

Headed out for an easy six miles after work – 2 miles to the local soccer fields, a couple more on the soccer fields made up of a dozen striders (faster paced efforts) and finished off with an easy 2 miles back to the house. The pace wasn’t great, but it wasn’t meant to be. Everything is feeling good and I’m looking forward to arriving in Frederick and counting down the hours until 6:30am on Sunday.

  1. Hi Steve

Absoluely no pre-race TESTS at this point! It is a very odd thing, but as you find runners who run faster and faster times they seem to be that much more insecure with their training and preparation. If we were reasonable (or had some level of sanity about our running), we would just accept that we are ready and let the chips fall where they may on race day.

I’ll be tracking you and best of luck on Sunday. There certainly won’t be anybody out there better prepared.

  2. Thanks Bill!

Just got back from a final three miler, so no more running until race morning.

Whatever will be, will be, but I’ll be giving it everything for a new PR. Fingers crossed.

    Thanks for the thoughts…

  3. Hi Steve

Just checked the weather and it looks like it is going to be pretty good after all. Should be low 50’s which I think is perfect and hopefully the rain is going to hold off. I think you are going to have a really good day and I am looking for a half marathon split right around 84:35 with a second half 85:05. Sound pretty good?

    Best of luck!

  4. Hey Alex: race is tomorrow (Sunday) – I’ll post results ASAP or you can check frederickmarathon.org for details.

Bill: yes, forecast looks pretty good! I enjoy running the rain and the temps are almost ideal. My aim is to running negative splits – first half 1:26:30 with a faster 1:23:29 second half. We’ll see…

  5. HI Steve

I’ve been checking for a post from you or results since about 11:30 and finally saw the results. I have a feeling it might have been a really rough day as there were not a whole bunch of fast finishes.

Hope all is well with you and that you are already in recovery mode.

    All the best,

    Bill
