Who would have thought it? My fourth run of the week! Yet another run/walk combo (I hate that word — don’t know why I used it), but this time a little further. In the back of my mind I had a goal of run/walking 5.4 miles today to bring my total mileage for 2009 up to 1500. Of course making sure the foot felt good was number one priority, but it’s always nice to reach a milestone isn’t it?
I decided to wear my Newton Gravitas for the first time since the stress fracture, and they performed great, despite the wet and slightly muddy soccer fields.
On a scale of 1 to 10, the foot pain was about a 2.8 — probably the lowest in the four recovery runs to date. Hopefully on the next outing the discomfort will be even less. Things are looking good, but I’ll definitely still be taking it easy for quite some time.
For the record, workout was 5 min walk, 1 mile run — repeat 4 times with an extra 5 min walk at the end.
Splits for the 4 running miles: 7:31 7:31 7:26 7:03
Average heart rate: 132bpm
Later in the day I also completed Week 3, Day 2 of the Two Hundred Squats challenge. If nothing else, the squats will help build some leg strength which should stand me in good stead as the comeback continues.
Reps: 27 34 21 21 maxed out of 50 [total = 153]
