After last night’s race today’s run was just supposed to be an easy five or six miles. The distance wasn’t a problem, but the heat turned out to be a real challenge – 93°F and no wind. After three miles I decided to just see out the run and make it home safely. No point taking any chances when the weather is against you.

Despite a cold shower to cool me down, it must have taken at least 30 minutes for my body temperature to return to normal and several servings of Heed to replenish my fluid and electrolyte levels. Tough mid-day run in the sun and I’m glad I didn’t have anything longer planned.
That’s tough… I was contemplating a noon run today but thought better of it. I have to run late night now. This heat is rough on the schedule.
