No, not crazy, just trying to shock my body into adapting to the mini heatwave we’re having at the moment. If the forecast for next weekend’s Frederick Marathon is correct, it could get pretty warm before I’m finished and I want to be as ready as possible. Of course, it may be too late to do anything about it, but no harm in trying eh?
The first run of the day started at just after 6am. The sun was coming up, the breeze cool and jogging around the neighborhood felt great. I covered just over 4 miles in 32 minutes and thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast when I got back to the house.
Lunch time I headed out for a slightly longer run and this time wore my iPod and followed the Kara Goucher Nike+ Endurance Mix. Haven’t done that for a while and it was nice to mix it up a bit. This run was 6.85 miles in 49 minutes.
Finally after work I ran another 4.4 miles, pretty much the same course as this morning, but slightly quicker. It was also 20 degrees hotter than the morning run and shocked the system just as intended.
Just for the record, the MISSION Skincare sunscreen worked flawlessly again – I love that stuff!
So, not a bad effort today – almost 15 miles of running and I feel great. Hopefully my craziness will pay off on Sunday if it does indeed turn out to be a warm day….
Good luck this weekend. My last quality workout day is going to be tomorrow, but I’m not doing a triple…it’s been a few months since I’ve done one of those.
OK, I’ve never done a triple 🙂 but I have deliberately overdressed and also run on a treadmill with a hair dryer to acclimate to warm weather! Impressive workout, best wishes for the race! –Alex
